10:09 am - Excuses, Excuses
|
Connectivity has been sucky lately.
There has been some problem with my phone line, so I've been only able to connect in the early morning and that too for short periods of time. WHich is why I've not been updating my lj.
Promise to do it when things get better.

10:33 am - Traffic & Traffic
|
Took a trip to Yehalanka today. I went to have lunch with Pranav and Kala, friends of Beena's. Stopped at Ramamurthynagar to pick up mom-in-law and then took the ring road to Hebbal. I was surprised by the amount of traffic on a Sunday. Had to wait almost 5-6 minutes at one traffic light. At this rate, the ring road will be just another crowded thoroughfare in a year or two.
Pranav's flat is in Prestige Monte Carlo. It is on the Doddaballapur road, about three kilometers after Yehalanka Circle. That's pretty far -- an easy 25-30km from Koramangala. The flat itself is pretty nice, up to Prestige's usual high standards. However, it's hardly occupied, maybe around 10% of the flats. It was pretty creepy when Pranav showed us around the place after lunch. I had a sudden flashback to a couple of cliched old SF movies where our hero wanders around as the only live guy in a post-apocalyptic New York. I kept wondering when the mutants would jump out from behind garbage cans and eat us.
Got back after a long drive. I promptly developed a nasty headache and had to lie down for while. Fortunately, I recovered in time to watch 'Traffic'. It was an interesting movie -- rather unsettling. Gives you a good taste of the two-steps-forward-one-step-back nature of the drug war. Definitely recommended.

12:40 pm - Losing my virginity
|
Just got a livejournal account. Been setting it up. This is my maiden entry.
My sister isn't back from her honeymoon yet. She'll probably be back tomorrow. Hope she's having fun. Kinda scary thought that -- better not analyse it too deeply.
Gotta get something to read -- it's been about four days since I finished reading "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman and I'm starting to get withdrawal symptoms.
"American Gods" was good. Explores the question "What happens to Gods when nobody believes in them any more?"
Gaiman is a good writer. I've enjoyed all the books of his that I've read.
Hmmm ... gotta work up some energy. Gotta get a haircut and get the punctured tyre on my car fixed. Not a good idea, driving around with a punctured spare.
